It’s so much more than a name

You live your life by a set of standards that are important to you. We’re guided by certain values too, and they reveal themselves in our everyday interactions with our customers and community. So when you have a financial challenge, question or dream, tell us about it. Then pay attention to what happens next. We take ownership of your problems and treat them as our very own. We craft solutions unique to you. And we express kindness and enthusiasm in all that we do. The reason you receive our best—always—is because we embrace the following values.

Clever minds create change.

Kind

We're never wrong by doing right.

Young-At-Heart

We surprise and delight.

Local

We're from here. We own it.

At Skyline National Bank, the most important thing we can do to bring you a really great banking experience is to commit to giving you always our best. We’re keeping hometown banking alive and well in the communities we serve. Inside our bank, it’s our vision; and in serving our customers, business clients and our communities, it’s our mission and an invitation for the entire community to join us in striving for excellence. Let’s rethink what a community bank can do. We invite you to join us.

Skyline National Bank has 28 branches and two loan production offices, and provides a highly competitive suite of personal and business banking products and services to customers in southwestern Virginia, western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee. What we do is more than just meeting needs and growing businesses; doing good and being our best elevates our community.

And together, the sky’s the limit.

Our History

Our tradition of caring for community all along and around the Blue Ridge Parkway is collectively more than 200 years strong. Grayson National Bank and Bank of Floyd – two independent, neighboring banks – combined on July 1, 2016 and rebranded as Skyline National Bank on March 13, 2017. Prior to this combination, Grayson National Bank officially opened for business on November 1, 1900, in Independence, Virginia, and Bank of Floyd on February 24, 1951, although Bank of Floyd roots date back to the heritage banks of the late 1800s.

So this is how we start a bank that draws from more than 200 years of collective banking expertise in this community: with a new name, mission and attitude, but the same friendly faces. We’re a solid bank built on a foundation of beliefs for a new century of service. Our tradition of caring for the community has always been important to us. So we joined forces to be able to do more for the communities we serve. Together, the sky’s the limit.

On July 1, 2018, Great State Bank -- a neighboring bank with branches in Wilkesboro, Boone and Yadkinville  -- joined with Skyline National Bank to expand our communities in northwestern North Carolina.

We welcomed Johnson County Bank into the Skyline National Bank family on September 1, 2024, expanding our reach into eastern Tennessee. This addition strengthens our commitment to serving local communities across the region, bringing our personalized banking approach to even more customers.

Our Story

There’s a united strength to this bank, just like this region. Yes, banking is a basic; but it’s the supportive work and passion that we all put behind it that makes a difference —that caring connectedness and history we share. Our bank is able to flex, willing to assist, eager to help, able to customize and committed to partnership. We stand behind you, deliver our best service, provide solutions, stay close for the outcomes, and make those highly personal investments that are really outside of everything you’d expect from a bank.

Our Future

Looking ahead, you’ll see a greater capacity to serve you and a more focused commitment to provide service that’s “always our best.” Our future is bright … in fact, the sky’s the limit. We want to be a vital part of this community and an active, supportive neighbor. We truly believe that the sky is the limit to what we can accomplish together.
